Stainless steel forged fittings for socket-weld, threaded and branch connections. Review the full variety below; suitability and availability depend on the exact grade, size and class.
Grades and material identification
Ask about 304/304L, 316/316L, 321, 310/310S, 904L and duplex grades such as 2205, where the product form and applicable material standard support them. For butt-weld fittings, ASTM A403 covers common austenitic grades; duplex material may call for ASTM A815. Forged fitting material standards vary (for example, ASTM A182 for suitable forged grades). The grade name alone does not establish a certificate or product standard. Confirm the actual heat, certificate and service requirements.
Fitting varieties
| Form | Typical variants | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Socket-weld elbows, tees and crosses | 45°/90° elbows, equal/reducing tees, crosses. | Run/outlet NPS, class 3000/6000/9000 only when specified and applicable; ASME B16.11. |
| Threaded elbows, tees and crosses | 45°/90° and street elbows, equal/reducing tees and crosses. | NPS, thread form (NPT/BSP as required), class and ASME B16.11 applicability. |
| Couplings, half couplings and caps | Full/reducing couplings; half couplings and socket/threaded caps. | NPS, bore, end type, pressure class and installation clearance. |
| Unions | Socket-weld or threaded detachable connection. | NPS, pressure class 3000/6000 if applicable, seat/face; MSS SP-83. |
| Nipples, swage nipples and plugs | Hex/barrel nipples, concentric/eccentric swage nipples, bull/hex/square plugs. | End type, overall length, end sizes, thread and material; MSS SP-95 is scoped to carbon/alloy steel, not a blanket SS standard. |
| Bushings and reducer inserts | Hex/flush bushings and socket-weld reducing inserts. | Male/female end sizes, thread or socket, class; MSS SP-79 for reducer inserts. |
| Branch outlets | Weldolet (butt weld), Sockolet (socket weld), Threadolet (threaded), and other outlet configurations on drawing. | Header and branch NPS, run-wall, branch end, reinforcement and MSS SP-97 applicability. |
Size, wall and rating
Specify nominal size, socket-weld or threaded ends, the actual thread form, and required pressure class. ASME B16.11 covers many forged socket-weld and threaded products; common class designations differ by end type and product. Union geometry may use MSS SP-83; socket-weld reducer inserts MSS SP-79; branch outlets MSS SP-97. MSS SP-95 applies to carbon and alloy steel swage nipples and bull plugs, so a stainless item needs its own verified standard/drawing rather than an automatic SP-95 claim.
Send a complete enquiry
Include material grade and product material standard; form and connection; size of every end; schedule or wall thickness; pressure class or design pressure/temperature; finish and tolerance; quantity; requested certificate/inspection; and delivery destination. For fabricated bends, outlets and unusual patterns, attach a dimensioned drawing. We check actual stock, feasible sourcing and paperwork for the item quoted.
